Guided meditation for beginners
Meditation has been practiced in the Indian tradition for well over 5,000 years in the form of breathing techniques and concentration.
As an organized tradition, meditation can be traced furthest back to the Hindu and Buddhist traditions of India.
Buddhism places a high value on meditation. The people who are meditating try not to let anything distract them and focus on one thing at a time. They hope to do this in order to rid themselves of all ideas, along with the avarice, hatred, and greed that are the root of all human suffering.
There are several approaches to meditation. Many Buddhists repeatedly mumble a certain mantra while seated. Others practice meditative dance or attempt to relax by walking, listening to music, gardening, or engaging in martial arts.
The objective is to view everything as fully value-free and to just perceive yourself as a component of the cosmos. It is believed that this state can bring about enlightenment and end the cycle of life and death.
